Forekomsten ligger i lia sørøst for Vassdalsvatnet som er neddemt og vannkilden til Kårvåg-området og øyene utenfor. En bomvei fører opp til nordenden av vannet, og en sti kan følges på østsida av vannet. Forekomsten ligger i en mindre knaus og en vannfylt stoll som har retning 155° og er ca. 20 m lang er drevet. Ved inngangen dominerer grovkornet, granatrik amfibolitt og kun svake sulfidmineraliseringer kan sees. I en dagskjæring ovenfor stollen er det en ca. 1 meter mektig sulfidsone med disseminert magnetkis i amfibolitten. Blokker med massiv til semimassiv magnetkis med mindre mengder kobberkis er prøvetatt fra tippen som har et volum på ca. 80 m3.

Skjerpet ligger ca. 100 m sørvest for hovedforekomsten i en knaus hvor det er sprengt i en 2-3 m mektig sulfidsone i dels granatførende amfibolitt. Mineraliseringen er av samme type som i hovedforekomsten og en prøve med massiv magnetkis+kobberkis er tatt fra store blokker i tippen som er spredt nedenfor skjerpet.
