| Skjerpet ligger rett på sørsida av toppen for en kolle, Kvernåsen (48 moh), ca. 150 m vest for Stemmavatnet. Et lite innslag på 2x2 m er skutt inn i en knaus langs en opptil 20 cm bred, middelskornet magnetittgang (prøve .01) som ligger i granittisk gneis. Massiv magnetitt opptrer i den nordlige forlengelsen av en 15-30 cm bred grovkornet kvarts-feltspat pegmatitt. Magnetittgangen kan følges over en lengde på 3-4 m og har noe uregelmessig form og orientering. I skjerpet er den orientert 120°/45°, men videre nordover blir den mer steil og orientert mer nord-sør. Den forgrener seg i smale magnetittårer lengst mot nord. Gradvis overgang mellom granittisk gneis og magnetitt-førende pegmatitt kan sees i blokker på tippen (.02). |

| Det er utført befaringer av malmforekomster på Haugesundhalvøya. Det gis en kort vurdering av de enkelte forekomster sett ut fra et økonomisk/malmgeologisk synspunkt. En molybdenforekomst ved Skjoldevik kan være av en viss økonomisk interesse, og dette området bør bli gjenstand for videre undersøkelser. De øvrige befarte forekomster er uinteressante. |
