The deposit is located in the steep slope down from the road, right before the bridge at Lysefjordbrua on the E side of the fjord at circa 30m above sea level. An 8m long ladder is suitable for descending the last few meters down. The deposit consists of two pits at the same height in the terrane, about 10m apart. The NW one is 4m long and runs 3m into the rock face. The entrance is 2m high. The pit in the SW is a little larger and better exposed to study the geology. The country rock characterizes as coarse grained granitic gneiss with a few dm-sized lenticular layers/bands of hornblenditic rock, possibly representing dolerite dikes best studied in fresh road cuts. In the SW pit, sulphide ore occurs as a 10-30cm wide lense of almost massive pyrrhotite with minor chalcopyrite (sample 01) running 4-5m along the strike towards SW. The matrix mainly consists of hornblende and apatite. The ore zone runs parallel to the underlying gneiss (210/025) and is overlain by a 10-40cm thick amphibolite. The same gneiss continues upward. The ore zone and the amphibolite form pinch-and-swell lenses in the gneiss. The thickness of the ore zone in the NE pit is 10-30cm, whereas it is only a few cm wide between both pits. Apparently, extraction has occurred where the ore zone was thickest. A sample (02) of the massive pyrrhotite from the small tailings heap shows a somewhat elevated copper content.
