Forekomsten ble mutet første gang 20.08.1756, og ble drevet av Stabbedals kobberverk fram til 1761. En skogsbilvei nord for Notodden fører fram til en stengt tømmervei som kan følges nesten fram til forekomsten. Koordinatene er til tippen som ligger mellom to skråsynker med avstand ca. 50 m. De er opptil 10 m dype og forbundet med en stoll på dypet. Denne har inngang 50 m sør for den sørligste synken. I hengen i den sørligste synken finnes grå kvartsittisk bergart. Under denne opptrer en opptil 1 m mektig kvartslinse med finkornet amfibolitt med svak kobber- og pyritt-mineralisering under (prøve TE0018.01). Amfibolitten er noe forskifret. Den rikeste mineralisering er funnet i kraftig foliert og silifisert amfibolitt i blokker på tippen (prøve TE0018.02).
