The mine is located on top of the ridge at Langdalstjønna lake, approximately 500m NNE of Skaug/Skog quarries (BU0118). The mine comprises two large water filled open pits at either end of a medium grained gabbro body, with about 35 m in between. The biggest one is Y-shaped and has a maximum dimension of about 20 m, with unknown depth. A number of smaller trenches occur related to these pits. Between these pits, lenses and schlieren that are richly impregnated with pyrrhotite and minor chalcopyrite and pyrite occur. From the location of both pits, the richest mineralization must clearly have been located at the contact between the gabbro and the gneiss country rock, in particular in the SE part where the largest pit is located.

Sommerens arbeide har gitt en meget god innsikt i opptreden av de Ni-Cu førende sulfidiske forekomster i en betydelig del av Ringerikes nikkelmalmprovins. Arbeidet, som har vært av rekognoserende natur pga begrenset antall medarbeidere og tid, har ført til forståelse av forekomstmåte ved de fleste viktige gruver og skjerp. Omtalte og befarte forekomster: Grefsrud skjerp, Ertelien, Skjerpevik gruve, Kauserud skjerp, Ullentjern skjerp, Orretjern skjerp,Skog (Skaug) gruve, Tysklands gruve, Langedals gruve (inkl. Bekken og Støvern gruver), Støverntangen gruve. Fins også i BV-arkivet (DMFs database for undersøkelsesrapporter) merket BV 1345.
