Vinterstøa or Vestre Utsjøen prospects are situated close to the western shore of Lake Utsjøen. They represent small trial workings for gold, exploring local concentrations of sulphides in three separate quartz breccia-veins, which represent splays of a major NNE-SSW-trending normal fault along the shore of Utsjøen. The mineralised zones which are 1-2 m wide consist of a network of thin quartz veins and wider breccia zones intersecting variably sericite-altered gneiss granites of the Solør Complex and older fine-grained granitic migmatites of the Romerike Complex. The northernmost shallow pit measuring 2 m by 8 m is the main deposit which consists of quartz veins with disseminated aggregates and grains of chalcopyrite, spahlerite, galena and minor pyrite. The latter mineral occurs mainly as dissemination in the sericite-altered wall rocks. This deposit is rather anomalous for the Eidsvoll district by containing abundant sphalerite and no gold. The two other breccia veins contain only accessory pyrite and possible some Cu-sulphides as indicated by the presence of minor malachite. The vein in the middle prospect carries veinlets of red K-feldspar and only minor sulphides. The southern pit is worked on a quartz breccia-vein with abundant vugs and widespread comb- and cockade-type growth structures. Minor disseminated pyrite is only found inside abundant black gneisses occurring along the vein contact and as fragments in the vein. As described from the Lesja mine (AK0020) the black gneisses are caused by hydrothermal deposition of amorphous carbon.
