Skjerpene ligger nær stien som går fra Fossestrand i Brennelvdalen til Karenhaugen. Avstand fra vei ca. 2km i luftlinje. Forekomsten består av skjærsoner og sprekker fylt med kvarts, amfibol, epidot samt kobbermineraler. Vertsbergarten er en massiv amfibolitt, tildels svært finkornet og med partier med pent bevarte amygduler. Amygdulene er fylt med kvarts, epidot og/eller kobbermineraler. Bergarten er tolket som en basaltisk lava (Davidsen 1989). Den kan også representere dagnære intrusjoner. Kobberforekomstene har vært tolket som synvulkanske (Juve 1968), dannet i forbindelse med pågående vulkanisme som har vært årsak til hydrotermal aktivitet. De har også vært tolket som supergene, dannet i forbindelse med forvitringen i senprekambrisk tid. Forekomstene er små, men rike. Gedigent kobber er funnet i enkelte av forekomstene. Børre Davidsen, hovedfagstudent ved UiTromsø, har arbeidet 4 uker i Lakselv- området. Rapporten beskriver 4 utførte deloppgaver hvorav del 4 er den viktigste. 1. Detaljkartlegging av nederste del av Lakselv-områdets stratigrafi, fra området nord for Karinhaugen. 2. Kartlegging i målestokk 1:25 000 i området Lakselv-Porsangmoen. 3. Feltstøtte for Rejean Girard ved hans beskrivelse av mineraliseringer. 4. Detaljbeskrivelse av mineraliseringer i Porsanger-feltet.
