I. L.: Ligger like ved Storforshei.

Abstract:
(forkortet) The mining company A/S Rana Gruber has made extensive exploration of the iron ore deposits in Dunderlandsdalren under the leadership of mining engineer Worm Lund and. The field work comprises the following sections: Geodetic works and constructions of topographic maps. - Geology. - Exploration of the ore deposits by diamond drilling. - Exploration of the ground above the solid rocks (for foundation). The present paper gives and outline of the geology. Map 1 illustrates the main geological features of Rana. The sedimenatary rocks belong to the lower part of the sediments of the Caledonian mountain range. They are older than the fossil-bearing Sulitjelma-schists described by Th. Vogt, and are probably of lower Ordovician or Upper Cambrianage age. The most characterisitctic features in the western part of the area illustrate d in map 2 are the graeat folds in with axes striking E-W and dipping 10-20 W There are two anticlinededs seperated by syncline. The northern Bomfjell- anticline is superseded toward south by the Svanheim-syncline and this again by the Nevernes-Lasken anticline. Toward east the fold axes turn from E-W to NNE -SSW, while the pitch varies between NE and SW. The compression of the rocks is higher in the eastern parts than in the western ones.
