På strekningen fra Dverset og fram til odden ved Reksteinvik opptrer en rekke kalksteinssoner med sydvestlig strøk og med steilt fall på 70-80° mot sydøst. Sonene opptrer i veksellagning med soner av glimmerskifer og grønnstein. Kalksteinen er grå blå av farge og middels- til grovkrystallinsk. Innholdet av forurensende silikater er noe varierende men jevnt over høyt. De mest fremtredende silikatene er: kvarts, feltspat og glimmer. Spetter av svovelkis er vanlig. Den grå fargen skyldes i hovedsak grafitt. Kjemiske analyser viser at dette er en dolomittisk kalkstein (Bøckmann). Kalksteinen er for urein til at den er egnet som industrikalk.

Abstract:
Some analyses of limestones from Northern Norway are given. They show that the percentage of carbonate of Magnesium (MgCO3) is small in several of these lime- stones. They may therefore be used in the industries of carbide and cellulose. The limestones of Northern Norway consist of varieties from almost pure carbo- nate of Calcium (CaCO3) to dolomite (CaCO3MgCO3). It was formerly a common belief that all the limestones of this region were too rich in carbonate of Magnesium for such uses, but that is not the case.
