At this locality a compact graphite schits is found with width that varies from 1-3 meters. In parts the graphite ore is very coarse grained. This prospect is part of the same geophysical anomaly that can be followed from Haugsneset and northwards up along the Kvernfjordalen valley. Large part of this several km long sone is overburden. Grades up to about 14% of graphitic carbon is found. In the references detailed geophysical measurements are reported.

Helicopter-borne magnetic, electromagnetic and radiometric geophysical survey at Langøya in Vesterålen, Nordland
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;RAPPORT;NGU-rapport; No.2013.044;26 pages
Abstract:
NGU conducted an ariborne geophysical survey in Langøya area in July - August 2013 as part of the MINN-project. This report describes and documents the acquisition, processing and visualization of recorded datasets. The geophysical survey results reported herein are 5650 line km, covering an area of 1050 km2

The graphite occurrences of northern Norway, a review of geology, geophysics and resources
;ARTIKKEL;Minerals; No.7(10);24 s. pages
Abstract:
Artikkel i Minerals 2020 nr. 7 vol. 10. Abstract: There are three provinces in Northern Norway in which occurrences of graphite are abundant; the Island of Senja, the Vesterålen archipelago, and the Holandsfjorden area. From these provinces, we report graphite resources from 28 occurrences. We use a combination of airborne and ground geophysics to estimate the dimensions of the mineralized areas, and, combined with sampling and analysis of the graphite contents, this gives us inferred resources for almost all the occurrences. The average TC (total carbon) content is 11.6%, and the average size is 9.3 Mt or 0.8 Mt of contained graphite. We demonstrate that the Norwegian graphite occurrences have grades and tonnages of the same order of magnitude as reported elsewhere. The graphite-bearing rocks occur in a sequence that encompasses carbonates, meta-arenites, acid to intermediate pyroxene gneisses, and banded iron formations metamorphosed into the granulite facies. Available radiometric dating shows that the graphite-bearing rocks are predated by Archean gneisses and postdated by Proterozoic intrusions of granitic to intermediate compositions.

Geophysical and geological investigations of graphite occurrences in Vesterålen and Lofoten, Northern Norway 2017
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;RAPPORT;NGU-rapport; No.2018.011;180 pages
Abstract:
As a part of the MINN project (Minerals in Northern Norway), a helicopter-borne geophysical survey was performed in Lofoten and Vesterålen in 2013. Electromagnetic data from this survey showed up anomalies that may be caused by large graphite mineralisation. With financial support from Nordland County, NGU has performed geophysical and geological follow-up work to 1) confirm the existence of graphite and 2) Briefly evaluate the quantity and quality of graphite structures. The project started in 2015 and the results from the first two years are reported by Gautneb et al. (2017) and Rønning et al. (2017). Follow-up work performed in 2017 is reported in this report. 15 locations have been investigated in total in 2017. The degree of detail in these studies varies from just a few lines of simple electromagnetic measurements (EM31) to electric measurements such as Self Potential (SP), Charged Potential (CP) and Electric Resistivity Traversing (ERT) in combination with Induced Polarisation (IP). In two areas, Sommarland and Haugsnes in Bø municipality, two short core drilling bore holes were made. The selection of follow-up objects was based on both magnetic and electromagnetic data from helicopter-borne measurements. All results from the 2017 work are reported here. Where possible, the volume of graphite is estimated based on the total strike length, the width of individual zones (from drilling, observations and width of EM31 measurements) and an assumed depth extent of 100 m. In these areas, an estimation of graphite tonnage is also given.

Geophysical investigations of graphite occurrences in Bø and Øksnes municipalities, Vesterålen, Nordland County, Northern Norway 2015-2016
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;RAPPORT;NGU-rapport; No.2017.014;50 pages
Abstract:
Geological and geophysical investigations in Vesterålen were carried out during 2015 and 2016 with additional funds from the Nordland County Administration. A first report (Gautneb, et al., 2017) emphasizes the geological aspects of the graphite prospecting (trenching, sampling, analyses, mineralogy and beneficiation tests). This report describes the results from ground geophysical mapping of graphite mineralisations at five locations in the Vesterålen area. These are: Møkland (UTM 486848 – 7627365), Sommarland (UTM 488080 - 7625780), Kvernfjorddalen (UTM 488445 – 7619975) and Haugsnes (UTM 488600 - 7619375) in Bø municipality and Smines in Øksnes (UTM 498793 – 7639018) municipality.

Geophysical and geological investigations of graphite occurrences in Vesterålen, Northern Norway, in 2018 and 2019
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;RAPPORT;NGU-rapport; No.2019.031;212 pages
Abstract:
Several potential graphite occurrences in Vesterålen were selected for follow-up work based on helicopter-borne geophysical data. The purpose for this is to confirm the existence of the graphite and next to briefly evaluate the quality and quantity of the graphite-bearing structures. The goal for the project, which is sponsored by Nordland county administration, is to increase the knowledge of each individual graphite occurrence. By doing so, the interest in graphite prospecting in Northern Norway may increase, effective prospecting can be implemented, and land planning can be developed with appropriate regard for areas with potential for economic graphite.
