Forekomsten ligger i veiskjæringen ved Melandsjø. Den utgjør en ca. 50 m tykk og nokså urein kalkstein, med mye slirer av basiske bergarter. De beste blotningene sees i veien mellom Melandsjø og Hestnes. Kalksteinenen er for mye iblandet silikater til at den er av intereesse i dag.
