Straumsåsen (other names: Brennåsen or Bua) is the NNW continuation of the Brekkebekkdalen deposit, and located 6 km to the NNE. According to Helland (1893, p.118) the length of the soapstone altered conglomerate is c. 200 m and the width c. 15 m, locally possibly somewhat more. Helland reports about a rather extensive and continuous production, with work in the quarry/-ies "every year during the last 104 years", i.e. in the period 1789-1893. The stone is relatively easy to work, and "may be cut with an ordinary saw" says Helland. After Helland's monography several NGU-Bergarkivet reports were written dealing with the Straumsås deposit (anonymous 1918 with reports referred therein, Hysingjord 1970a). Olerud (1993, p.14) regarded the width to be at least 50 m, and recommended the deposit evaluated for block stone quarrying. Furthermore, he regarded the soapstone as too dark as raw material for talc production. A/S Granit have excavated a test pit (1994/95), but unfortunately, the quarried blocks fell apart too easily, due to a series of very fine fissures and veinlets containing pure, coarse grained, pale sea-green talc. The test pit was therefore quickly abandoned. From Karlsen and Nilsson 1999.

Description
Bedriften Granit Kleber AS på Otta tok ut blokk ved hjelp av wiresag for noen år siden med tanke på produksjon av ovner og peiser. Men kvaliteten på kleberen ble ansett for dårlig, så bedriften begynte å bruke kleberstein fra Handøl i Sverige i stedet. Strukturen i kleberen er konglomeratisk, men endel karbonatårer og årer av ren talk (steatitt) gjør at den lett sprekker opp. I tillegg er også selve kleberen så løs at den lett sprekker og smuldrer opp. Blokkene som ligger igjen etter prøveuttaket viser etter ca. 10 års lagring tydelige tegn på forvitring, noe som beviser at den ikke er brukbar til ovnsproduksjon.
Location
Dette bruddområdet starter noen meter NV for tjernet hvor hovedbruddet ligger. Lengderetningen er N-S, og total lengde er ca. 70 m. Bredden er 10-15 m. Prøvebruddet til Granit Kleber AS ligger i nordenden av området.
