Beskrivelse : Rombeformet stabilt område med flattliggende og parallell-lagrede sedimenter med svak helling mot NV. Støter i S mot Møre-Trøndelagforkastningssonen, i N mot Vestfjordbassenget, i V Haltenterrasen og i Ø vesentlig mot basement-bergarter. På plattformen finnes spredte NNØ/NØ-gående normalforkastninger og en større bassengstruktur (Helgelandsbassenget) hvor de eneste virkelig kretaiske avsetninger opptrer. Enheten omfatter strukturer som Nordlandsryggen, Helgelandsbassenget, Frøyhøgda, Froanbassenget, Ylvingforkastningssonen og Vegahøgda
