Mineraliseringen ble iflg. arkivkort i Bergarkivet funnet i 1871 av K. M. Hauan. Den er blottet SV for Sørå, 150 - 250 m sør for veien, og fulgt mer eller mindre sammenhengende over en strøklengde på ca. 200 m, fra SV-ligste punkt a) til det NØ-ligste b). a) I dunitt er det over en samlet mektighet på 6 - 8 m, spredte mm-cm-mektige kromittbånd. Det rikeste parti er 15 cm mektig hvor kromitt utgjør mer enn 50 % av dunitten (prøve 01), hvor de massive, finkornige kromittbånd er i mm- til 1-2-cm-skala vekslende med mm-bånd av kromitt-impregnert dunitt. Båndingen har retning 30°/70°. Den båndete kromittmineraliseringen fortsetter usammenhengende mot NØ. Båndingen vrir seg endel - dunittlinser veksler med harzburgitt og pyroksenitt. b) Kromittbånding over en mektighet i dunitten på ca. 7 m, hvor det dominerende bilde er: kromittbånd av få mm mektighet alternerende med dunittbånd (svak kromitt-disseminasjon) av mektighet 5 - 10 cm. Det kan imidlertid være tilnærmet kromittfrie bånd av mektighet 10 - 20 cm og det kan være kromittbånding over opptil 20 cm mektighet hvor kromitt dominerer over dunitt. Det opptrer enkelte massive, finkornige kromittbånd (prøve 02) av mektighet opptil 8 - 10 cm. Båndingen har retning 5°/50°. Kromittbåndene er ofte forkastet i cm-skala.

Abstract:
Layered rocks of both ultramafic and gabbroic composition are described. The banding is assumed to be of the flow-layering type typical of alpine-type complexes. The gabbroic rocks are both uralitized and saussuritized. Dunitic ultramafite is more or less serpentinized, whereas the pyroxenite layers are quite fresh. This selective or incomplete alteration may be due to lack of water during metamorphism.
