The Husvika deposit is represented by a number of small mines and prospects over a 1.5 km long N-S trending zone. During test mining in 3 periods c. 8000 t of ore was produced. The ore is associated with skarn in a 5-40 m thick sequence of heterogeneous metasediments, including calcareous mica schists, marble and quartzite. The sequence is intruded by dykes of granodiorite. The sulphide mineralization consists of three main ore lenses, all of which are quite narrow (~0.5 m). Three mineralzation types are recognized 1) Massive ore, 2) Disseminated ore and 3) Quartz-sulphide veins. The massive ore is the most important, and comprises either sphalerite- or galena-dominated ore. Arsenopyrite is quite abundant together with sphalerite. Parts of the ore is silver-rich with 2-300 g/t Ag. Indicated ore reserves are c. 0.1 Mt to a depth of 74 m with 10 % Pb and 24 % Zn. It is suggested that the surrounding granodiorite is the source for skarn and metalliferous fluids, but a syngenetic formation related to the sediments are not ruled out (based on Pb-isotope studies). |

Abstract: | |

Sink- og blyforekomster på Helgeland. |
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;TIDSSKRIFTARTIKKEL;NGU; No.131;1-79 pages |
Abstract: | |
The deposits described in this paper are situated in the large section of Northern Norway, generally called Helgeland, some in the districts of Rana and Vefsn, others in the districts (herreder) Leirfjord and Tjøtta in the Nordland county. The deposits occur in metamorphic rocks of Cambro-Silurian age and in the neighbourhood of acid plutonic rocks belonging to the igneous series of the Caledonian mountain range. These igneous rocks generally consist of light coloured granites, and the accompanying intrusive sheets are white and often very siliceous with few dark minerals. The ore forms intrusive sheets or impregnations in the metamorphic rocks. The ore minerals are zinkblende and galena, the latter sometimes being argentiferous. They are accompanied by pyrrhotite and pyrite, sometimes also by arsenopyrite They always form complex ores the utilization of which was formerly difficult but is now made possible through the application of the modern methods of selective flotation. Zinkblende is the prevailing ore mineral. The amount of galena is rather variable, but its distribution in the occurrences is only imperfectly known. Also the amounts of accompanying pyritic minerals are variable. |

The Husvik Ore Deposits. |

Abstract: | |

Rapport over bly- og sinkforekomstene ved Husvika, Tjøtta. |
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;FAGRAPPORT;Bergarkivet; No.BA 4234;13 pages |
Abstract: | |

HISU-prosjektet 1974. Malmundersøkelser i Husvik, Alstahaug, Nordland. |
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;FAGRAPPORT;NGU-rapport; No.1252/3;29 pages |
Abstract: | |

Pb isotopic constraints on the origin of the Husvika Zn-Pb deposit in Nordland, north-central Norway. |

Abstract: | |
The Husvika Zn-Pb deposit is hosted by rocks of the Helgeland Nappe Complex in the Uppermost Allochthon of the Norwegian Caledonides. It is a small deposit (estimated to be 100,000 metric tonnes, carrying 24% Zn and 10% Pb) which can be followed as longitudinal bodies for about 1.5 km along a fault zone. The deposit occurs in mixed calcareous and pelitic metasedimentary units, which are intruded by the granodioritic Andalshatten Pluton, granitic pegmatites and veins, all of which are parts of the Bindal batholith. The hosts for the sulphide are metasomitcally altered metasedimentary and granitoid rocks. The metasedimentary rocks demonstrate a weak alteration giving a massive rock consisting of coarse-grained garnet, amphibole and quartz. The sulphide mineralization is of three different types: (1) massive ore of sphalerite and pyrrhotite with minor galena, chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite, or massive galena in large crystals, sometimes carrying magnetite, (2) disseminations of sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena and pyrrhotite and/or arsenopyrite in the altered host rocks, and (3) quartz veins and veinlets with pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite and löllingite with accessory minerals. Ranges for Pb-isotope ratios of sulphides from the ore, amazonites from the altered granodiorites and pegmatites and unaltered K-feldspars from the granodiorites are 18.559-18628, 15.622-15.60 and 38.254-38.373 for the 206Pb/204Pb, the 207Pb/204Pb and the 208Pb/204Pb ratios, respectively. Arsenopyrite from a quartz vein has Pb-isotope ratios of 18.963, 15.655 and 37.950. Sm-Nd isotope analyses of the skarn minerals indicate contribution from both a magmatic and a sedimentary source of Sm. Field relation and isotope determinations are consistent with a derivation of metals from the granodioritic intrusions and ore deposition simultaneous with, or shortly after, emplacement of the Andalshatten Pluton, pegmatites and granitic veins. Subsequently, sulphides with a U/Th-enhanced metal source (uranogenic lead) have been deposited. |

Bjørnlia skjerp ligger vel 200 m vest for hovedmalmsonen i Husvika. |
