Mineraliseringen, som ble mutet i 1890 årene, har utgående i veiskjæring ved UTM 480980 7626320. Herfra løper mineraliseringen østover opp langs en fjellrygg og dreier nord-østover mot Selvågforekomsten, en avstand på ca. 4km. Mektigheten er ca. 20m. Mineraliseringen tilhører iflg. Priesemann & Krause (1985) "Lower ore horizon" fra Selvågforekomsten, og består av titanomagnetitt- og ilmenittdisseminasjon, samt noe sulfid (magnetkis, svovelkis og kobberkis) i middelskornet gabbro (prøve 03, 04 og 02 som er gjennomsnittsprøve/knakkprøve). Sidestein er en noe lysere gabbro (prøve 01). Mineraliseringen er gjennomsatt av enkelte smale granittganger med magnetkisdisseminasjon (prøve 05).

Abstract:
Det er foretatt befaring av forekomsten, som ligger på nordsiden av Åsanfjorden. Forekomsten er en ertsimpregnert gabbro (lys), med strøk Ø - V og fall 75 grader N. Alt tyder på at gabbroen (med impregnasjon) har meget stor feltutstrekning.

The Selvåg deposit: a proterozoic magmatic Fe-Ti-V occurrence on Vesterålen, Northern Norway.

Abstract:
The Selvåg Fe-Ti-V deposit is hosted by the Eidet-Hovden layered intrusion situated within the Precambrian Lofoten-Vesterålen province. The igneous complex is of olivine-tholeiitic affinity and shows a strong iron-enrichment trend. The deposit lies within the upper ore horizon (UZc) of the layered series. Faulting has resulted in two separate heterogenous ore bodies characterized by strong modal layering. The ore consists of titanomagnetite with ulvøspinel and ilmenite lamellae, ilmenite and sulphides. The mode of titanomagnetic relative to ilmenite show little variation in their compositions. The northern ore body contains the most valuable ore reserves with 44 Mt probable ore with about 25 wt.% V. The southern lens is of minor economic importance.
