Det ble drevet prøvedrift på Lakså forekomsten av Liland Kobberverk i 1882-83 og i 1898. Det ble iflg. Gustavson (1974) røsket og drevet flere synker, den dypeste vistnok ned til 70m i fallretningen. En transportstoll ble påbegynt i 1898. Det ble tatt ut 80 tonn malm i 1882 og 77 tonn i 1883 og skipet til England. Mineraliseringen består av flere linser som opptrer i båndet (mørk grå og hvit) finkornet kalkspatmarmor (prøve 04 er fra ligg). Marmoren har flere opptil meter tykke lag og linser av rusten glimmersk. Ved 579150 7600270 er en vannfylt synk med 30m3 tipp. Malmen er ikke blottet og prøvene 01, 02 og 03 er derfor plukkprøver fra tipp. Det er massiv magnetkismalm med kobberkis, sinkblende og noe svovelkis og blyglans. Ved 579150 7600200 går en transportstoll mot NV minst 70m innover i kalkspat-marmoren uten å treffe mineralisering. Tippen er på ca. 300m3 marmor. Ved 578950 7600210 er det en helt gjenfylt synk i en tilsynelatende annen malmhorisont. Prøve 05 er plukkprøve fra et fåtallig stuffmateriale i fyllmassen. Det er samme type som de forannevnte, men semimassiv.

Abstract:
The rocks of the map area Ofoten can be roughly subdivided into Precambrian basement and overlying Caledonian rocks. While the Precambrian of the area in general is considered autochthonous, the Caledonian sequence is composed of allochthonous rocks. The allochthonous sequence can be subdivided into 3 units, all consisting mainly of Cambro-Silurian metasediments (marbles, mica schists and - gneisses, quartzites etc.). The lowermost unit, present in the westernmost areas only, can probably be correlated with the Abisko Nappe of the TornetrÌsk Area of Sweden. The middle unit, embracing the Varvik, Bogen and Evenes Groups, corresponds to the Seve-KÎli Nappe Complex. Deformed Precambrian granite is met with at the base of this unit. The uppermost part of the sequence, the Niingen Group, must most probably be considered as a seperate overthrust unit. The deformation of the rocks during the Caledonian orogeny occurred in 3 episodes: 1. During the F1 episode isoclinal and subisoclinal folds with an axial plane schistosity developed. The F1 folds can be observed only on outcrop scale but some indications of large-scale F1 folds exist.
