| Description |
| Forekomsten er en tyktspaltende kvartsittskifer. Skiferen er finkornet og grå. Det er to ulike sprekkeretninger i forekomsten. Retningene er svært fordelaktig med tanke på murstein. Over skiferhorisonten som det drives på idag (2014) finnes fyllitt som er mindre egnet til natursteinsformål. Skiferen er for tyktspaltenede til å kunne brukes som helleskifer. Det var skiferdrift i steinbruddet frem til 1970-tallet, etter noen tiårs pause startet de opp igjen med muresteins- og pukkverksdrift i 2000. Idag drives det på to nivåer i steinbruddet, det tas ut pukk på øveste nivå og stortsett murestein på nederste nivå. |

| Forekomsten ligger ca 7 km fra Voss sentrum og nås ved å kjøre Rv 308 fra Voss mot Nordheim. Det er skiltet med steinbrudd til forekomsten |
