The Mikkeljord prospects comprise several small showings in a system of thin quartz veins (up to 50 cm wide) with disseminated to semimassive lenses with arsenopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite and galena, and variable amounts of pyrrhotite and fahlore. Gold is also present based on the analytical data (0.1-3.7 ppm Au). The prospects were worked in the 1880s, when it was an interest in finding Svenningdal type silver deposits (Ag-bearing quartz veins, see N0052).

Abstract:
Som en del av NGU's råstoffundersøkelser i Nord-Norge 1975 ble det foretatt geologisk kartlegging i Mikkeljord bly/sinkforekomst. På samme tid ble det foretatt en regional bekkesedimentundersøkelse i en dolomittsone som strekker seg fra Susendalen til Røsvatnet. I tillegg til å beskrive overnevnte under- søkelser gir rapporten en sammenstilling av tidligere arbeider i området. Malmen i Mikkeljord er en antimon- og arsenrik bly/sink-svovelkismalm i en gjennomskjærende kvartsgang som ligger i en kalkrik metasedimentserie. Etter som det er kjent er de påviste malmreservene for små til å være av økonomisk interesse. Imidlertid er feltet sterkt overdekket og for å få klarhet over eventuell ukjent mineralisering er det anbefalt å foreta en geokjemisk undersøkelse med jordprøvetaking. Ved de regionale bekkesedimentundersøkelsene kom det fram 2 anomalier på ukjent mineralisering. Disse er anbefalt undersøkt videre.

Abstract:
Geologisk kartlegging er gjort i stikningsnettet etter geofysiske målinger. Forekomstene ligger i en middels til lavmetamorf pakke med glimemrskifer og karbonat, skjerpene er kort beskrevet. Det ble utført 8 diamantboringar, tilsammen 271 m. Kjernene er beskrevet, men ingen analysedata finnes. Fortsatt undersøkelser anbefales ikke.

Abstract:
The Mikkeljord sphalerite-galena deposits are situated in Susendal in the northern part of Norway. The area is strongly covered and only 5 small orebodies have been found each with a length of less than 20 m and with a width less than 1/2 m. They are much too small to be mined. The deposits are classified as Caledonian, epithermal breccia deposits, probably below 450 degrees C. They are found in Cambro-Silurian schists. Ore minerals are (in probable order of deposition): arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite, marcasite-pyrite, sphalerite (dark) galena, pyrite, sphalerite (light), chalcopyrite, tetrahedrite, hematite. Hematite is only found as needles in small secondary veins filled with quartz or calcite which are penetrating the ore. The assay given on p. 148 is too high to represent an average grade of the deposits. Gangue minerals are mainly quartz, some calcite, sericite and albite. The main strike of the surrounding quartz-sericite-schist is N-S. The ore-bodies extend in a E-W direction and have a steep dip. The ore is deposited in cracks and fissures.

Geologisk kartlegging, prøvetaking av mineraljord og diamantboring ved Mikkeljord Pb-Zn-forekomst.

Abstract:
Nordvest for gården Mikkeljord i Susendalen er det 4-5 røsker med en antimon-, arsen- og delvis sølvrik blyglans, sinkblende og svovelkismineralisering. Mineraliseringen er knyttet til sprekker og består av uregelmessige bånd i en kvartsmatriks. I årene 1976 og 1978 ble det prøvetatt mineraljord i området og nordøst i feltet fremkom høye konsentrasjoner på bly og sink. I 1979 ble det tatt 131 mineraljordprøver i et utvidet og utfyllende stiknings nett. Prøvetakingen bekreftet resultatene fra de tidligere undersøkelsene, og det ble påvist et uregelmessig 500 x 300 m stort område hvor en rekke prøver har høye konsentrasjoner av bly og sink. Det ble også utført geologisk kartlegging, og det ble foretatt en revisjon av tidligere inntegnede bergartsgrenser.

Abstract:
Undersøkelsene på bly-sinkmineraliseringene ved Mikkeljord i Susendalen ble utført etter ønske fra NGU i Oslo. Feltet er geologisk undersøkt bl.a av H. Bjørlykke, T. Strand og Johs. Færden. I følge Strand består bergartene av kvartsitt, mørk grå fylitt og lys grålig til grønnlig fylitt. Lagenes hoved- strøk er nord-syd og fallet vestlig fra 0 grader til 30-35 grader. Det ligger en rekke gamle røsker/skjerp i området. Under målingene ble det funnet løs- blokker med bly-sinkmalm. Det ble utført 500 per.el.magn.kond. målinger (Turam) ut fra 3 forskjellige kabelanlegg for energisering. Ved målingene ble det observert indikasjoner på et stort antall soner av sterkt varierende ledningsevne og utstrekning. Over de mineraliserte soner i Skjerpene ble det kun observert meget svake indikasjoner. Målingene kan tyde på at lagene er foldet. Det ble forsøkt å røske på enkelte soner. Det ble dels funnet spor av blyglans og sinkblende, dels litt grafitt med magnetkis og svovelkis. Målingene viser at forholdene i feltet er kompliserte. Det bør foretas videre undersøkelser - røsking/diamantboring- for å finne ut mer definitivt hva indikasjonene skyldes. Videre kan det være aktuelt å forsøke andre geofysiske metoder.
