Gruva ble antakelig før 1900 drevet av Røros Kobberverk eller av folk fra Holtålen. I 1882 nevnes det en forsøksdrift i en 10 m lang og 4 m høy dagstrosse. Det var også korvarig drift i 1883. I 1904 og 1905 ble gruva drevet av direktør Fr. Hjort fra Oslo og opptil 24 mann arbeidet i gruva i 1905. Det ble da produsert 164 tonn kis fra gruva som bestod av en 120 m lang ort, 17 m dyp synk og knapt 77 kbm strosse.
