The Sjøholt Fe-Ti-V deposit comprise a number of separate ore lenses over an exposed length of 850 m, which are situated in the marginal parts of an amphibolite unit close to the surrounding orthogneisses. 3 diamond drillholes gave an average thickness of 15-16 m with 35.5 % Fe. The possible reserves are calculated to 4.65 mill.t. Test mining and dressing in 1947 gave a concentrate of 61.75 % Fe, 5.10 % TiO2 and 0.4 % V from a crude ore with 41.51 % fe, 11.88 % TiO2 and 0.34 % V.

Abstract:

Registered occurrences of titaniferous magnetite, ilmenite and rutile in Norway.
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;FAGRAPPORT;NGU-rapport; No.85.125;20 pages
Abstract:
Som et tillegg (på engelsk) til en landsomfattende oversikt over norske Ti og Fe-Ti forekomster i NGU Bull. 402 "Titaniferous magnetite, ilmenite and rutile deposits in Norway", er det utarbeidet en tabellmessig oversikt over samtlige registrerte Ti/Fe-Ti forekomster i landet.

Abstract:
On the map accompanying this paper all the mines and ore deposits of Southern Norway are collected for the first time. The material has been gathered from printed and unprinted sources, communications from mining engineers and geologists, and through personal visits. Included are all mines and ore deposits of former, present and future importance. Among the 1407 deposits on the map, there are furthermore included all of doubtful value and many which are quite unworkable, but of geological interest, or those which mark the distribution of ore bearing formations. For this reason it has been necessary to mark the deposits with signs of different size. The object is only to facilitate a comprehensive view of the map, and is not an effort of economic classification, which for most of them would be quite impossible. The sizes refer to the presumed importance of the ore deposit, and has nothing to do with the extent of the mining operations. Mines and deposits out of work during the period 1913-1923 have been separately marked (see the legend), also deposits which were formerly of much greater importance than now. For the smallest mines and deposits no distinction has been made in these respects. Among them are represented partly those, which are in reality unworkable, partly those which are little investigated.

An overview of titanium deposits in Norway
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;TIDSSKRIFTARTIKKEL;NGU Bulletin; No.436;27-38 pages
Abstract:
Titanium deposits in Norway are of three major types: igneous, metasomatic and metamorphic. The igneous deposits are compared of ilmenite, magnetite and apatite in various proportions and occur in geological provinces of different ages. and some have a metamorphic overprint. The other majord Ti ore-types is the rutile-bearing eclogites in western Norway that formed during the Caledonian high-pressure metamorphism of predominantly Proterozoic basic igneous rocks. The third Ti ore-Type is the Proterozoic rutile-bearing, scapolitised and albitised rocks in the Bamble region of South Norway.
