Valaheien deposit is the largest VMS deposit on Varaldsøy and produced 0.17 mill.t. of ore with 43,7 % S and 0.4 % Cu in the period 1867-1917, mainly 1867-1888. The reserves are in the order of 314 000 t. The deposit is situated along the contact between metabasalt or tuff and minor bodies of feldspar porphyric rhyodacite. The ore body is a ruler with a thickness of 3-5 m and width of 200 m, and it dips 41 degrees. It is a fine-grained pyritic banded ore with minor amounts of chalcopyrite and magnetite. Main gangue is quartz. Average grades of the mined ore are 43.7 % S, 40.7 % Fe, 0.4 % Cu, 0.1 % Zn, 0.01 % As og 0.003 % Se.

Rapporten oppsummerer geologiske forhold, geologiske resultater og malmberegninger. Feltet omtales som forholdsvis lovende m.h.p. drift i liten skala. Forekomstnr. 20082, 20287 og 20290. Forekomstens navn og koordinater: Nygruva 32 3330 66708, Varaldsøy, Hisdalen 32 3309 66699. Valaheia 32 3345 66717.
