The Konnerudkollen Zn-Pb skarn deposit was mined periodically from 1729 until 1913. The ore bodies having a mean content of about 5 % Zn, 0.5 % Pb and 0.5 % Cu were mined by stoping at two main levels. Approximately 250 000 t of ore was mined. The main host rock is skarn related to Upper Silurian limestones and hornfelses and was formed as a result of the intrusion of the Drammen granite batholith. The mineralization consists of sphalerite with subordinate amounts of galena, chalcopyrite and/or bornite and is related to different skarn mineralogies, but mainly garnet- or clinopyroxene-dominated types.
