Beskrivelse : Sevedekkekomplekset brukes om de høymetamorfe dekkene i Seve-Kölidekkekomplekset (Seve - Kølidekkekomplekset er en fellesbetegnelse for Seve- og Kølidekkekomplekset). Bergartene i Sevedekkekomplekset skriver seg fra overgangen mellom kontinent og havbunn og inneholder både prekambriske og paleozoiske elementer. Alderen på metamorfosen er datert til 450-420 millioner år. Sevedekkene inneholder også eklogitter datert til ca. 500 millioner år. Før dekkebegrepet var etablert ble betegnelsen Sevegruppen (Törnebohm, 1872) benyttet om disse bergartene. Navnet skriver seg fra Sevo mons, Seveberget, et gammelt navn brukt om fjellområdet mellom Norge og Sverige (Plinius d.e.). Betegnelsen er for lengst gått ut av bruk som geografisk navn. Mange uformelle betegnelser som Seve schists, Seve marbles, Seve eclogites, Seve gneisses, Seve greenstone, Seve metabasites, Seve amphibolites er benyttet i litteraturen om forskjellige bergarter tilhørende Sevedekkekomplekset. Sevedekkene (Seve Nappes) brukes også for å beskrive at dette er dekker med høy metamorfose som opptrer langs hele fjellkjeden. Seve Thrust/Seveskyveforkastningen er benyttet om skyveforkastningen under Sevedekkekomplekset. Seve Group og Seve Supergroup er også benyttet om bergartene i dekkekomplekset.
